For those who
are not aware, the yellow stripe on the cab side denoted that
the engine was banned from operating South of Crewe on the West
Coast Main Line after electrification. Though never actually
carried by 44422, because of its location away from the WCML,
it was carried by other members of the class based in t he North
West. The only other engine in preservation known to carry the
stripe is the 8F based on the Severn Valley Railway. |
