Earlier today, Friday
10th December 2004, 44422's boiler was successfully steam tested
at Crewe. This is a major step forward in the battle to have
the locomotive working early next year. Below are some images of today's events.

The safety valves
repeatedly cracked while under the watchful eye of the boiler
inspector.

It was so good to
see the 4F boiler alive again after its long period of sleep.
The test was a success
and now it is time to be placed back in the frames.
On the same day the
cab was recovered from Cheddleton - clearly some painting work
is necessary.
It doesn't look too
bad from this angle.
